EDUCAÇÃO PARA A MOBILIDADE: PERCEPÇÕES A RESPEITO DO USO DO AUTOMÓVEL NA CIDADE DE MARINGÁ/PR
Abstract
With the intensification of the industrialization process, population growth, and the production of automobiles in urban areas, mobility relations have become a problem in Brazilian cities (a situation that has resulted in a lack of urban mobility). According to Bravo et al. (2016), the lack of mobility leads to a reduction in employment opportunities, access to basic services, and the development of social networks, in addition to contributing to exclusion. Given this scenario, the research aims to verify the population’s perception regarding the use of the automobile as the main form of transportation in the city of Maringá/PR. To this end, it adopts as methodology the application of questionnaires related to the theme (such as level of accessibility, adherence to car use, characteristics of daily trips, perception regarding alternative modes of transport, among others). The research revealed that the population of Maringá has frequently opted for the use of the car as the hegemonic form of transportation due to factors such as the inefficiency of the public transit system, deficiencies in active transport infrastructure, traffic insecurity, among other aspects. These elements highlight the need to promote broader urban mobility measures, with the aim of improving circulation conditions in urban spaces. Such actions should include policies that encourage broad debate between the population and public authorities, to foster the collective construction of mobility relations
