BOURDIEU AND COLEMAN'S THEORY APPLIED TO THE MAP'S READING

Abstract
This article brings Bourdieu and Coleman’s theory as a support to the socio-economic discussions and its implications in the maps read. Through a survey, the read of the students from Colégio Estadual 29 de Novembro de Araruna - PR, was compared between the students from 6th and 7th grade with the students from 8th and 9th grade in relation to the pictorial and abstract pictures of watersheds. Based on the results is possible to say that: the students have social capital, but they don’t have the economic and cultural ones enough to the educational development of a satisfactory way, because they found difficult to do the reading of the map, while they understood perfectly the pictorial picture. Considering that the pictures have an objective of show the reality lived by the students in their daily routine and to make possible the subsidy enough to exercise the citizenship through the knowledge acquired in the student's school for them to understand the process of transformation of what is around them and the society that they are inserted.Downloads
