PROBLEMS OF COLLECTIVE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN PRESIDENTE PRUDENTE - SP

Abstract

The urban mobility has been target of many studies of the geography, because the displacement in the city is a fundamental element in the quest for understanding the dynamics that occur in urban space. In this context, the studies about the public transportation in the city make the discussion about the quality and efficiency of system collective of transportation as needed to meet demand or to attract new passengers. However, many studies in Brazil defending that the system collective of transportation has a process of devaluation accompanied by the hegemony of individual transportation, what helped for the upraise of many problems. This problems has negative impacts at the accessibility and mobility at the passengers making the displacement less efficiency. The objective this work is to think and discussing about the problems of the public collective transportation, through the case of Presidente Prudente, for understand what is the results this problems in the quotidian of passengers. For this, we used as recourse the fieldwork where we making interviews with passengers of public collective transportation in Prudente. The interviews helped them to think the ten problems mains that the passengers have when using the public collective transportation in the city, the problems isn’t important just for understand the question of urban mobility in Presidente Prudente, it is also important for understand the problems common of other cities.
