Abstract

This study aimed to compare physiological and neuromuscular indexes of judokas in different weight categories. Eighteen male judokas took part of the study grouped into three categories: extra-light/half-light, light/half-middle and middle/half-heavy weight. The following evaluations were performed: Counter Movement Jump (CMJ); Special Judo Fitness Test (SJFT); match simulation to obtain the peak blood lactate (LACmax) and the percentage of the blood lactate removal (BLR); incremental test to obtain anaerobic threshold (vAT) and peak velocity (PV) and pull test in the judogui to obtain the rate of force development (RFD). Only LACmax and CMJ showed differences in the categories, where judokas middle/half-heavy weight category showed higher values (p<0.05) than other categories. It can be conclude that heavyweight judokas requested more lactic anaerobic metabolism during the fight and had lower muscle power than lightweight judokas.
