This work aimed to evaluate the Parque do Ingá (a park in the municipality of Maringá, state of Paraná, Brazil) hiking practices profile in relation to corporal mass index (CMI) and waist/hip rate (WHR). Men and women with ages from 20 to 70 years, regular hikers (3 to 5 times a week) which went for their walks between 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. were evaluated. The results showed that 84% of the sample had corporal weight excess, with CMI above 25 kg/m². In most of the age groups the WHR indicated cardiovascular diseases moderate risk for both sexes. This indicates that life quality must be associated with adequate alimentary habits from childhood, together with physical activity and ideal weight maintenance during adult life, avoiding obesity.Downloads
