Abstract

The article analyzes the transvestite gender in the face of the theoretical and political complex about
socio-sexual identity. This discussion is done in a bibliographic review of exponents in the discussion about
identity through the analysis of ethnographic studies. In order to reassess the conduct of social movements in
relation to this vulnerable group, it builds a critical history about feminist productions. Criticizing this
universalizing notion of female identity, she evaluates in Judith Butler's works a new approach for the recognition
of transvestites in the public agenda. Thus, it indicates a framework of possibilities and interventions for a Law
that considers gender as inclusion..
