The importance of English proficiency for the Internationalization of Science Education research

Can Humberto Maturana's epistemology contribute to understanding the value of English language proficiency in the internationalization process of research in Science Education? Based on this problem, the objective was to explore some relationships between Maturana's epistemological foundations and the importance of the English language in the internationalization process of Science Education. This research is characterized as a qualitative theoretical essay, guided by an interpretative approach. It addresses the importance of the English language as the language of scientific communication and the internationalization process of research in Science Education, as well as some of Humberto Maturana's epistemological foundations, such as autopoiesis, language, and cognition. From the relationships established between the research topic and Maturana's epistemology, it can be concluded that this epistemology contributes to understanding internationalization as a process of ontological transformation, experienced in language, and guided by ethical responsibility.
