Abstract

Mass Exchanger Network Synthesis aims at the reduction of industrial pollutant emission. In mass integration the process is optimized from the point of view of consumption of the external mass transfer agents and of capital. A calculation system was developed for mass exchanger network synthesis by means of mathematical programming and concepts of Pinch Analysis. Algorithms are easy to use and do not require the designer´s profound knowledge on the process. An example from the literature has been chosen to test the applicability of the methodology. Results were consistent and achieved optimal mass exchanger network. In addition, a great number of new network possibilities were shown, guaranteed by the mathematical programming methods and Pinch Analysis. Due to its simplicity and applicability, the new systematic may be used for industrial and academic purposes

Mauro Antonio da Silva Sá Ravagnani, UEM

possui graduação em Engenharia Quí­mica pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá (1986), mestrado em Engenharia Quí­mica pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1989) e doutorado em Engenharia Quí­mica pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1994). Entre 2005 e 2007 realizou pós-doutorado em Engenharia Quí­mica na Universidade de Alicante - Espanha. Atualmente é professor associado da Universidade Estadual de Maringá. Tem experiência na área de Engenharia Quí­mica, com ênfase em Operações Industriais e Equipamentos para Engenharia Quí­mica, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: otimização, análise pinch, redes de trocadores de calor, programação matemática e projeto de equipamentos Currí­culo Lattes
