Abstract

The evaluation of the pathogenicity of Metarhizium anisopliae, Verticillium lecanii, Aschersonia sp. and Paecilomyces sp. in Brevipalpus phoenicis in laboratory conditions has been the aim of this research work. This experiment consisted of 5 treatments and 5 replications, and each set contained the fruit of the common orange with 15 females of B. phoenicis. The fruits with mites were sprayed with an aqueous suspension in the concentration of 2.27x106 viable conidia/mL and adhesive dispenser, and the reference kits were sprayed with sterile water and adhesive dispenser. The fruits with mites were kept in temperature-controlled room (28º ± 1ºC, 75% ± 10 RH and 12-hour photophase). Mortality rate was evaluated daily during 11 days. Confirmation of mortality by fungi was undertaken by conidiogenesis observation in corpses transferred to the humid room. Since there was no conidiogenesis in corpses of mites which died during the experiment, results showed that there were no significant differences between the treatments with regard to mortality

Possui graduação em Agronomia pela ESALQ-USP (1981), mestrado em Agronomia (Entomologia Agrícola) pela Universidade Estadual Paulista - FCAV (1996) e doutorado em Agronomia (Proteção de Plantas) pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2004). Atualmente é professor adjunto da Universidade Estadual de Maringá.
