Abstract

The aim of this study was evaluate the effect of probiotic associated of different levels of crude protein (CP) on length and mucous morphometry of small intestine of meat quails. 2.304 meat quails were used, distributed in a completely randomized experimental design in 2 x 4 factorial scheme (with and without probiotic; four levels of CP – 15, 20, 25 and 30%), with two replications by treatment, in two experimental periods. At seven, 14, 21 and 35 days of age, two quails of each replication were slaughtered to evaluate the length of small intestine (LSI) and duodenum and ileum mucous morphometry. LSI and small intestine mucous morphometry were not influenced by probiotic. Intestine length increased in a linear way with CP levels increase at 7, 14 and 21 days of age, and mucous morphometry increased in a linear way only to ileum villum height. It may be concluded that in the good sanitary conditions meat quails were raised the addition of probiotic did not affect on small intestine length and mucous morphometry.
