Spatial distribution of fishes in lentic environments: factors interaction
Abstract
To understand the structure and dynamics of fish assemblages in lentic environments, it is fundamental to identify and analyze the main factors linked with physical space occupation strategies of the species, and characterize the patterns of spatial distribution of fish in different habitats. Factors as biogeographical history, physical and chemical parameters, productivity, structure and complexity of habitats, biotic interactions have been suggested as regulators of ichthyofauna distribution. These factors interrelated with the geological history of the drainage basin determine the patterns of spatial distribution in different lentic environmentsDownloads
