<b>Reflections on memory in fiction of Machado de Assis and on the work of Paul Ricoeur
Abstract
The goal of this research is to analyze the design of memory in fiction novelist: Memórias Póstumas de Brás Cubas, as well as in the work: A Memória, A História e o Esquecimento. And present some singularities of this work machadiana the light of Ricoeur's theory.This is a review article, classified as qualitative. The corpus is formed from bibliographic bases, being the secondary sources from the novel by Machado de Assis and the work of Paul Ricoeur. The critical analysis was made of the books from a narrative review. The results show that Ricoeur understands memory as an experience that the individual has toresign or represent; and that memory is addressed and discussed, in order to assign a duty of legitimation. In Machado de Assis, a qualitative description of the memory as a lived experience. It reveals different aspects of memory, because memory is used in a very dynamic way.The singularities and showed that in Brás Cubas, the memory used while artistic feature reveals itself as authentic, because the memory evoked by him gives the memory a meaning of truth.
