<b>Deindustrialization in the Southeast region
Abstract
The present study aims to analyze the evolution of the manufacturing industry in the Southeast region and, in turn, in its states in the period 2002-2014: Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. In addition, to carry out this analysis, to observe the process of deindustrialization in force in Brazil can be explained by the trajectory of the transformation industry in the Southeast region. For this, it is used as a form of analysis of the classic indicators of deindustrialization. Indeed, an analysis has shown that a manufacturing industry in the Southeast region lost share in value added and employment in national indicators. However, this loss has been concentrated in the state of São Paulo, which constitutes a process of regional regressive deindustrialization ‘positive’ once there has been a devolution of industrial production in the region.
