Abstract

Results are presented featuring a study on the process of the conceptualization of the 2013 street manifestations in Brazil and their social agents. Cognitive Linguistics, based on Lakoff and Johnson (1980), Kövecses (2009), Grady (1997) and others, foregrounds the theoretical-methodological basis of current research. Corpus comprised postings on Facebook retrieved in June 2013. Qualitative data analysis showed that the street manifestations may be conceptualized as war through the metaphor’s mechanism.

Ariadne Domingues Almeida, Universidade Federal da Bahia

Possui graduação em Letras Vernáculas (1996), mestrado (2000) e doutorado em Letras e Lingüística pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (2007). Atualmente é professora adjunta da Universidade Federal da Bahia, onde atua na Graduação e na Pós-Graduação em Língua e Cultura. Tem experiência na área de Lingüística, com ênfase em Linguística Histórica, Linguística Cognitiva, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: história da língua portuguesa, semântica, conceptualização, metáforas e mesclagem. Coordena o GESCOG (Grupo de Estudos em Semântica Cognitiva - UFBA/UNEB) que se associa ao PROHPOR (Programa para a História da Língua Portuguesa).
