<b><i>A Estação</i>: fashion, literature and ideological diffusion
Abstract
The article analyzes the ideological position of A Estação, a magazine published from 1879 to 1904 in Brazil. In order to identify the periodical’s axiology, a study on the sociocultural context of the 19th century and on signic analyses may indicate that this publishing encouraged adherence to European standards of living, leading to an erudite culture society focused on consumption. A Estação analyses reflects, according to political and social circumstances, that the magazine has influenced the Brazilian national identity conception due to aspects of the European culture, which were incorporated into society daily life.
