<b>A dialogue between Mikhail Bakhtin and critical theory: a path from dialogism and polyphony to Dostoevsky’s dialectics
Abstract
In Bakhtin’s analysis of Dostoevsky’s poetics, dialogic voices assume a fundamental role. However, Bakhtin (2008) could not demonstrate how dialogism would transform Dostoevsky’s work into an integral polyphonic totality. Thus, in dialogue with critical theory – especially with Adorno’s Aesthetic Theory (2012) –, we will try to establish a path from dialogism and polyphony to Dostoevsky’s contradictory notion of dialectical totality.
