Commonplace and inversion in Greek lyric poetry

Abstract

In this article we translate and analyse ten erotic poems extracted from Five Book of Greek Anthology. These poems show three topics or commonplaces – the threat prophecy, the gloading over fulfillment and the compliment of old women – and in our analyses we focus on relationship between them and the innovation processes in Greek lyric poetry.

é Professor-Adjunto da Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM) desde 2011. Possui Pós-Doutorado em Linguística (2009-2010-UNESP), Doutorado (2004-2008-UNESP) e Mestrado (2001-2003-UNESP) em Estudos Literários, Bacharelado/Licenciatura em Letras (1997-2000-UNESP). Atua na área de Letras, com ênfase em Cultura Clássica (Línguas e Literaturas Grega e Latina).
