Linguagem e gênero: estereótipos, formas e variação linguística
Abstract
O dossiê temático “A emergência de gênero não-binário na América Latina” reúne 10 artigos sobre o surgimento de formas de gênero não binário em português, espanhol e italiano, além de 5 resenhas de livros recentes sobre o tema. Estudos empíricos sobre o fenômeno do gênero não binário ainda são escassos e dispersos, tanto em termos de motivação quanto de método. Esta lacuna dificulta a construção de um panorama sistemático e rigoroso, necessário para fundamentar debates públicos e políticas sobre o tema. Na ausência de pesquisas especializadas, as discussões públicas tendem a ser dominadas por ideologias baseadas em crenças de purismo linguístico e hegemonia de gênero. Os artigos e resenhas publicados neste dossiê evidenciam a necessidade de uma abordagem complexa e transdisciplinar para tratar adequadamente desta temática. O dossiê reúne resultados de pesquisas e análises que ajudam a compreender melhor este fenômeno linguístico e social emergente.
