Multisystemic effects of electronic cigarette use: narrative literature review

Keywords: Electronic cigarette. Smoking. Effects.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The objective was to verify the multisystemic effects of electronic cigarette (EC) use. This is a narrative review of the literature, with PubMed being the database consulted, using “e-cigarrette” descriptors; “effects”, including randomized clinical trials published in 2018 to 2023, English language and available in full. 15 articles were found, of which 13 were available in full and were included for analysis. Multisystemic effects cause immediate cardiovascular and pulmonary damage, as well as serum, psychosocial and educational effects. Using EC causes acute macro and microstructural multisystem effects.
