OBJETIVOS DE DESENVOLVIMENTO SUSTENTÁVEL E A CULTURA DA CANA-DE-AÇUCAR PARA PRODUÇÃO DE ETHANOL
Abstract
The United Nations 2030 Agenda's proposal for sustainable development for the planet is to protect it from degradation, through sustainable consumption and production, managing its natural resources and taking measures on climate change, so that it can meet the needs of present and future generations. The objective of the research was to verify in the literature if the production and use of sugarcane ethanol is contributing for Brazil to be able to comply with the 2030 Agenda and meet which Sustainable Development Goals and its goals. Research was carried out in the ScienceDirect database for the period 2010-2019 using the words “Brazilian ethanol” and limited by type “review” and “research”. The research revealed 44 articles directly related to the researched topic. The articles were grouped into six categories, similar to the results and classified as follows: food production; water use; socioeconomic and environmental improvements; reduction of GHG emissions; use of co-products for energy generation; and use of sugarcane bagasse to produce second generation ethanol. The results were classified as contributing to the objectives: SDG1, poverty eradication; SDG2, zero hunger and sustainable agriculture; ODS6, drinking water and sanitation; ODS7, clean and accessible energy; SDG8, decent work and economic growth; SDG9, industry, innovation and infrastructure; SDG11, sustainable cities and communities; SDG12, responsible consumption and production; SDG 13, action against global climate change and SDG15, terrestrial life.
