Abstract

This is a report of an experience of health educational actions developed in May 2009 with 17 female mental patients at a psychiatric hospital of Parana State/Brazil. Four meetings were promoted where the following themes were discussed: food, healthy living habits and physical exercises, selected by the participants in a weekly meeting at the inpatient unit. The participants mentioned the importance of having fruit and vegetables as well as the relation between the practice of physical exercises and well-being. There was the participation of most of them in the discussions, having been possible to clear doubts, foster the practice of healthy food and physical exercises as well as positive aspects on health promotion, prevention and rehabilitation.
