Abstract
The increase of chronic disease patients, care dependent, has been responsible for bringing some families to live the experience of care in the home environment. In this context, this study aimed to analyze the perception of chronic patients regarding the care in the family home. This is a qualitative-descriptive research. Data was obtained through open interviews with nine patients. For analysis, it followed the steps of thematic analysis. The results showed a category, which deals with family care at home in the perspective of the chronically ill individual care dependent. For these individuals, caregiving has meanings of attention, promptness, devotion, affection, protection and understanding. They recognize, though, that the caring relationship can result in conflicts, disagreements and loss from the caregiving process. It was concluded that there are weaknesses and difficulties in the provision of care by the family in the home environment and, therefore, health professionals, especially Nursing, should include the family in the set of users who need guidance and support in qualifying assistance for this population group.Downloads
