Abstract
It is a qualitative research study aimed at understanding the experiences of adults undergoing bone marrow transplant, from diagnosis of the underlying disease until hospital discharge. For data collection, interviews were conducted through semi-structured home visits with seven transplant patients ages 18 to 59, living in a city in Minas Gerais, discharged between October 2004 and September 2010. Through thematic analysis, it was possible to approach questions concerning the impact of the diagnosis of a serious illness, the possibility and realization of the bone marrow transplant and feelings at the time of hospital discharge. Therefore, this study provides subsidy for the planning of nursing with a view to the guidelines and actions for potential needs of people undergoing bone marrow transplant recovery process related to the period after hospital discharge.Downloads
