Abstract
This article aims at sharing the experience faced by students of Nursing through the Education through Work Program in a Workshop with chemically addicted women at the Alcohol and Drugs Psychosocial Attention Center. This is a mental health service which provides daily assistance to people who make a harmful use of alcohol and other drugs. The participation of the students in this service happens through the listening, the link and the cooperation work involving all participants seeking a better quality of life. By developing the workshop, which is a motivational tool for the treatment, the users report their torments, sadness and happiness, besides exposing their difficulties concerning self-control towards the drugs as well as it helps easing conflict relationships in the family. The practice faced by the students in this mental health service has provided them important experiences in their formation, as it gives them the chance to know and to have a look free of prejudice/stigma to addicted people. It can be a source of support and incentive to the team as well as it results in acknowledgement for the service network to assure comprehensive care.
