Abstract

Qualitative and descriptive study, aiming at describing the story of a woman´s life, dysfunctional user of abusive drugs for 18 years, and identify factors that led to the initiation and maintenance of drug use over life. An analysis of epidemiological form of toxicological occurrence, filed at a Toxicological Information and Assistance Center in the northwest of Parana (Brazil), was carried out. A semi-structured interview guide was used as well.  The report, delivered to the authors during a home visit, was recorded in digital media, analyzed by means of contend analysis and grouped into two categories. Among the life experiences mentioned, we highlight her low education level, her addictive behavior, the multiparity, her multiple sexual partners, family conflicts, domestic violence, drug trafficking involvement and trouble with the Law.  In the account of the interview there were several adverse events in the family environment may have acted as a factor inducing drugs use, among them are the family culture of drug use and addictive behavior in the family.
