The health problems of a nursing staff and the absenteeism-disease

Abstract

Trying to investigate the health problems of a nursing staff in a hospital school through the incidence of the absenteeism-disease, we accomplished a survey of the health licenses registered during onw year. The data was collected from the Personnel Department of the Institution, the indexes of absenteeism-disease were calculated and its causes were identified. The results presented the largest frequency indexes (lf=0,35) at the Paediatrics and percentage of lost time on work at the Ready Attendance (Tp=4,19%). The most frequent causes of health problems with nursing staffwere related to respiratory and genito-urinary systems and sense organs. The indexes of absenteeism-disease were high, indicating the need of an understandig program and improvement of work and health conditions of the nursing staff in hospital
