Abstract
The present study aimed at understanding the (re) organization on the family daily life motivated by the effects of cancer chronic condition. A study of comprehensive approach through Focal Life History questionnaire, carried out in six meetings with an individual with colorectal cancer and their family. They were select by active search of subjects in health services. Data was collected between April and June 2010. The interviews and field observations were transcribed in data book and formed the corpus on which the categories were analyzed. Results showed that the family ties are caregivers of different orders, material and affectionate. At the same time they are stressed by the needs due to prolonged chronic condition. Caregiving circulates among family members, influenced by the recognition that the sick person gives. It was noticed the importance of complementing the material care with affection on the professional practices, being the family care the place where these two dimensions are mutually involved to meet the health needs.Downloads
