Comparative history: a posssibility of writing the history of brazilian and argentinian education - doi: 10.4025/imagenseduc.v1i3.12986
Abstract
The present article aims at discussing the prolificacy found in the comparative method in the historiography of education, highlighting its possibilities and limits. Starting from some ideas and teaching actions developed in Brazil and Argentina between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, as well as some aspects of political actions and interventions by Rui Barbosa and Víctor Mercante in the formative field, the hypothesis of comparative history is debated to raise discussion on the education of these two countries. In the light of Brazilian and Argentinian historiography and the concept of the intellectual seen as the organizer of views of the world inspiring individuals to defend political, social and cultural projects, it is possible to state that the Brazilian and Argentinian educational experience, as the participation of Rui Barbosa and Víctor Mercante in the institutions of the State, indicate a wealth of studies which use the comparative method in the historiographic field of education.Downloads
