Abstract
The initial formation of Mathematics teachers towards an inclusive education is necessary, considering the number of students in this situation who attend regular schools. Soroban, an instrument of calculation, can be used in Math classes as a tool for appropriation
of mathematical concepts by visually challenged and normal sighted people. Thus, the article presents a reflection about the developed project, in conjunction with academic students of the second semester of Mathematics Course, in the discipline of Pedagogical Pratices II of a higher education private institution in the countryside of Paraná. Regarding the use of this pedagogical tool, this article studies the viability of its use with visually impaired and normal sighted students.
The results indicate that by empowering future teachers with knowledge about the use of Soroban may effectively contribute to the inclusion of the visually challenged students and also provide an education of quality to all.
