BEM-TE-QUERO – A PROGRAM PROPOSAL FOR THE PROMOTION OF PARENTAL SKILLS
Abstract
This paper presents the Bem-Te-Quero Program - Promotion of Parental Skills in Early Childhood, an intervention proposal to strength parenting skills of parents with children from zero to eighteen months. It results from the experience of psychology professionals who intervene with families in a situation of social precariousness, combined with professionals who work with children at risk and danger, as well as professionals from academia. In short, Bem-Te-Quero is based on established premises in the literature, underlining two: the recognition of the importance of early childhood as a fundamental stage for the integral development of the human being and for each one to become a functional and participative adult; interventions centered on families and their roles facilitate their ability to change, to make them more competent, receptive and active for their members.
