Abstract
The aim of this paper is to demonstrate how degrading is the labor in meatpacking and how it impacts the health and the lives of the individual who work. To achieve this goal, we´re supported by the bibliography on the labor in meatpacking, as well as concrete cases of illness in the sector, we also use the information obtained from the Public Ministry of Labor (MPT). The use of oral sources for understanding the experiences of the workers in relation to their jobs is also important. The research results on these sources has shown that there is a great sickening among the workers (labor degradation), which corroborates with the research that studies this sector, as well as the research in other insertions of labor, which presupposes in thinking a geography of the labor degradation. Therefore, meatpacking are territories of labor degradation, which, from the point of view of the workers, may be their first and their last job, because of the chance of getting sick is high.Downloads
