Abstract

The urban planning is a process that comprises successive improvements aimed at the quality of life of populations and the aging of the population puts pressure on social instances to assume new postures about the ways of planning this environment. To understand the elderly's attachment with the environment, it is necessary to understand the resources available in the place and the experiences lived in that context. From the sense of place, people transform spaces and are transformed by them. Thus, this study questioned how elderly residents of three locations in the city of Brasília build their sense of place, based on their identification of facilitators and barriers faced daily and the demands for building an aging-friendly environment. The qualitative data presented derives from the use of three research techniques: face-to-face interviews, go-along interviews, and photographic diaries. Sixty-three elderly persons between 60 and 90 years participated in the study. The analysis carried out using the Iramuteq software allowed the development of four classes related to social and community bonds, activities of daily routines, symbolic aspects that reflect the sense of place and the relationship with rural and urban elements perceived in each scenario. Being aware of the changes resulting from the demographic pyramid’s inversion incur on some of the issues identified in this study. However, the results confirm how much further progress is still needed to include more dynamically the elderly-environment relationship in studies that address the aging process.

Dayse Albuquerque, Universidade de Brasília

Doutora em Psicologia pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia Social, do Trabalho e das Organizações da Universidade de Brasília – PSTO/UnB (2019). Mestre em Psicologia pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina – PPGPSI/UFSC (2015). Graduada em Psicologia pela Universidade Federal do Amazonas – FAPSI/UFAM (2013). Especialista em Docência do Ensino Superior (2016) e em Saúde do Idoso (2018). Atuou como Pesquisadora Adjunta do projeto “Place-Making with Older People: Towards Age-Friendly Communities" (2016-2019). Aborda temas no campo da Psicologia Ambiental que articulem aspectos desenvolvimentais da relação pessoa-ambiente.

Fernanda Goulart, Universidade de São Paulo

Atualmente cursa o Programa de Doutorado da FAU-Usp, na área de Tecnologia da Arquitetura, com o projeto de pesquisa "Qualidade Ambiental em Unidades de Tratamento Psicossociais: Uma avaliação Pós-Ocupação em unidades CAPS AD III", com financiamento pela FEPESP. Possui graduação em Arquitetura e Urbanismo pela Universidade de Brasília (2013). Mestrado na área de Psicologia Ambiental, sob orientação do prof. dr. Hartmut Günther, no departamento da PSTO-UnB com o tema "A contribuição da Arborização Urbana para a Mobilidade Ativa". Participa do Laboratório de Psicologia Ambiental, cordenado pelo Prof. Dr. Hartmut Günther e Prof. Dra. Isolda Günther, onde realiza pesquisas multidisciplinares e transculturais através dos projetos Mobilidade Urbana Saudável e Placemaking com Idosos (pesquisa da qual foi bolsista pela Economic and Social Research Council entre 2017 a 2018). Tem experiência prática na área de Arquitetura e Urbanismo,atuando como pesquisadora independente nos seguintes temas: Psicologia Ambiental, Processo de Produção do Urbanismo, Mobilidade Urbana e Análise Pós-Ocupação.

Natália Klavdianos, Fundação Oswaldo Cruz

Graduada em Psicologia pela Universidade de Brasília (2016), Mestre em Psicologia pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia Social, do Trabalho e das Organizações da Universidade de Brasília (2019). Atuou como Assistente de Pesquisa do projeto "Place-Making with Older People: Towards Age-Friendly Communities" (2017-2019). Residente em Gestão de Políticas Públicas em Saúde, pela Fundação Oswaldo Cruz, Brasília (2019- atual).

Isolda Günther, Universidade de Brasília

Possui graduação em formação de psicólogo (1970), licenciatura em psicologia (1969) e bacharelato (1968) pela Universidade Católica de Pernambuco, mestrado em Psicologia Experimental (Psicologia Social) pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (1979), doutorado em Psicologia do Desenvolvimento pela Michigan State University, EUA (1983), pós-doutorado pela City University of New York, EUA (1997-1998) e pela Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, Alemanha (2003-2003). Tem vínculo sem ônus, desde 1993, com a Universidade de Brasília na condição de Pesquisadora Colaboradora Sênior. Atua nas áreas da psicologia do desenvolvimento e da psicologia ambiental.

Adriana Portella, Universidade Federal de Pelotas

Possui graduação em arquitetura e urbanismo (2001) pela Universidade Federal de Pelotas (UFPel), mestrado pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Planejamento Urbano e Regional da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul – UFRGS (2003), Doutorado pelo Joint Centre for Urban Design da University Brookes University (2007) e Pós-Doutorado pela Barlett School of Architeture and Planning (2007-2008). Atualmente, ocupa uma posição permanente como Professora Associada 2 da Universidade Federal de Pelotas (UFPel, desde 28/08/2008) e é Chefe do Departamento de Arquitetura e Planejamento da Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo (desde 04/03/2016).
