Abstract

This article aimed to develop a critical analysis about some conceptions related to ‘health’, which are recurrent in the scientific field of Physical Education, aiming at amplifying the critical understanding on such a phenomenon. In order to condense this debate, the article incorporated some theoretical references on both the Public Health and Health Social Sciences since they are fundamental subsides in the sense of differently interpreting the hegemonic biomedical approach.

    Professor Licenciado Pleno em Educação Física pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1987), Mestre em Educação Física pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1998) e Doutor em Saúde da Criança e do Adolescente pela Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2005). É membro do Conselho Editorial da Revista Ciência & Saúde Coletiva [ISSN 1413-8123] e da Revista Brasileira em Promoção da Saúde [ISSN 1806-1222]. Coordena a Linha de Pesquisa 'Repercussões Sócio-Culturais da Comunicação Pública de Riscos à Saúde' vinculada ao Mestrado Multidisciplinar (Desenvolvimento Regional e Meio Ambiente) e ao Departamento de Ciências da Saúde da Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz. Possui experiência nas áreas de Saúde Coletiva e Educação Física.
