School material culture in the history of primary public instruction in Paraná: notes of a research trajectory

Abstract

This article intends to discuss basic public school buildings space and furniture organization in the state of Paraná, during the years of 1910, in order to analyse the objectives and the senses that space and furniture acquired in pedagogical organization in such teaching buildings. The sources used were: Paraná’s educational legislation, public teaching reports, and Paraná’s newspapers articles. It is understood that the school material culture study might be constituted in an historical investigation tool of school practices, their representation and appropriations.
