A Cartilha maternal e algumas marcas de sua aculturação

Abstract

From the perspective of the Cultural Studies and related fields, I analyse strategies  implemented by Rio Grande do Sul state officers on importing the didactic work developed by the Portuguese author João de Deus, Cartilha maternal, whose method to teach reading was officially applied. Firstly, I have provided the critique formulated by the Rio Grande do Sul government officers concerning “unsuitable counterfeits”, and after that, the acceptance of primer uses most closer to the Portuguese work. I conclude the analysis by showing its acculturation marks, as it fits to the local needs of this southern Brazilian state.
