Abstract

The soybean meal is an important product of the Brazilian agribusiness. Soybean meal drying, one of the stages of the production, is a great consumer of energy and, normally, it is conducted in a rotary dryer of indirect heating. The study of the soybean meal drying aims to reduce its consumption of energy and it is important to increase market competition of this product. Thus, the objective of this work was to develop a mathematical model, in stationary regimen, in order to evaluate the energy consumption and the efficiency of the process. The model was based on the mass and energy balances, constitutive and empirical equations. The validation of the model was made from operational data of an indirect rotary dryer of Coamo (Cooperativa Agrícola Mourãoense)
