Abstract

Simple experiments obtained with a laser beam are proposed in this article. Diffraction phenomena and their interpretation in terms of Fourier´s transforms in the spatial domain are discussed in order to introduce some interesting application of the spatial filtering in optics. A straightforward introduction of convolution theorem is also suggested. A stimulus is given to the discussion concerning the utility of Fourier transforms in high school and undergraduate physics teaching.

Marcos Cesar Danhoni Neves, UEM

Possui graduação em Física pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá (1983), mestrado em Física pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1986) e doutorado em Educação pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1991). Possui uma especialização em educação e divulgação científica pelo MASHAV-Jerusalém (Israel - 1991/92). Realizou estágio de pós-doutoramento no "Laboratorio di Didattica delle Scienze" no Dipartimento di Fisica da Universití degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza", Itália (1995/96). Atualmente é Professor Titular da Universidade Estadual de Maringá. Coordenou inúmeros projetos envolvendo as agências FINEP, CNPq, CAPES e ARAUCÍRIA (SPEC, PROCIÊNCIAS, PROIN, MUSEUS DE CIÊNCIA). Tem experiência na área de Educação e Divulgação Científica, Alfabetização Científica, Linguagem Verbo-Visual aplicada í divulgação da Ciência, História, com ênfase em História e Epistemologia das Ciências. Foi Secretário da SBPC-PR entre 2004-2006 e é, atualmente, até a gestão de 2008. Coordena o Planetário CIRCUS STELLARIUM da Universidade Estadual de Maringá. Coordenou no Estado do Paraná as três edições da SEMANA NACIONAL DE CIÊNCIA E TECNOLOGIA. Coordena o Programa de Mestrado Acadêmico de Educação para a Ciência e a Matemática da Universidade Estadual de Maringá desde 2003 Currículo Lattes
