Characterization of institutional services of children and adolescents in the territory of Grande Aracaju, state Sergipe, Brazil

Abstract

 The Institutional Reception is a protection measure for children and adolescents of exceptional and provisional character. The evaluation of the functioning and the employees of the SAIs is a subject of social relevance, due to the concern about the type of services offered to this population. In this scenario, this research aims to identify the characteristics of the employees and the operation of institutional reception services in the territory of Grande Aracaju/Sergipe in the period from 2013 to 2015. It was a quantitative study, which used forms for this characterization. 13 SAI's were surveyed, all had TV room, leisure area and kitchen; 54.5% (6) study hall; 27.3% (3) did not have a technical staff room; 90.9% (10) maintained a dialogue with the Public Ministry and municipal programs in various areas; and all SAI's had dialogue with the Tutelary Council, judiciary and social assistance programs. 96 employees surveyed, with 93.7% (59) women, 25-35 years old 49.2% (31). The eight coordinators were women, 37.5% (3) received between 2 and 4 minimum wages; 50% (4) were married and had children. It was identified the need for qualification for the employees, given the high level of ignorance of the political and legal issues that permeate the universe of children and youth.
