Abstract

Current study investigates the possibilities of access to public policies that benefit family farming and rural tourism. It considers the differentiated products produced in the processing units of the settlements Facão/Furna São José, Corixo e Margarida Alves in the southwestern region of the State of Mato Grosso, Brazil. A review of the literature, retrieval of secondary data, fieldwork for interviews using form and photographic records, geo-referencing of processing units; systematization and interpretation of data within a qualitative approach produced the following results. Production facilities accessed Pronaf, PAA and Pnae Programs within the context of public policy of the Brazilian Federal Government through direct purchases with simultaneous donation, via Conab, of agro products, vegetables and fruits produced on the settlement. Farmers in the settlements are assisted by the staff of STTR from Cáceres and by Fase who give guidance to groups in preparing projects to raise funds, compliance with bureaucratic requirements and transfer of technologies to improve production. Results show that the government programs as well as the technical assistance by trade unions and by Fase promoted changes in the well-being and production of the families surveyed. They provided inclusion and autonomy for women in the labor market and income generation.
