Abstract

The paper aims at discussing the uses of movies as a learning tool inhistory classes in primary school in Brazil, beyond a traditional approach of usingcinema as ancillary. The paper discusses three different narratives and theirpossible interrelationship: educational, historical and cinematic. Then the papergoes to a case study, Robin Hood, by Ridley Scott (2010), particularly studying theuse of freedom as a topos. The paper thus concludes by fostering the critical use ofmovies in the classroom.
