On-line education in classroom training courses for teachers in Brazil in the present day: a ‛new’ educational paradigm?
Abstract
This article aims to reflect about on-line education today, in Brazil, in classroom training courses for teachers. To that end, some conceptual and pedagogical practices related to education, teaching, distance education and distance learning differences are presented. Brief commentaries are made depicting the historical itineraries of distance education in Brazil, from the eighteenth century to the present. Finally, it brings to light some questions concerning the problems of the incursion of on-line education in classroom training courses for teachers in contemporary Brazil, as well as in relation to the real potential and limitations of this type of education in the context of these courses. This theme has sparked burning debate and controversy within the academic realm at national and international level.
