Education and inclusion in the New Republic (1985-1990)
Abstract
This article aims to analyze the educational policy of the government of José Sarney, in order to identify the contribution of this government for the construction of an inclusive education system. For this, we carried out a qualitative study aimed at analyzing the content of primary and secondary sources, national documents and scientific production respectively. Data analysis showed evidence that the then government maintained the option of Special Education at the expense of Inclusive Education, which corroborated to the worsening of the historical process of excluding people with disabilities from the regular educational system.
