COMPETENCES IN BNCC
A READING APPLIED TO THE TEXTBOOK OF PHYSICS ADOPTED BY A PUBLIC SCHOOL OF MINAS GERAIS
Abstract
Brazilian basic education has been changing because of the implementation of the Common National Curriculum Basis (BNCC) which is a guidance document for teachers and the states’ educational systems. The textbooks recommended by the National Program of Textbook (PNLD) do not fully reflect its guidelines yet. In this perspective, aiming to help teachers in producing tasks capable of developing skills and abilities as recommended by the BNCC, we analyzed how the Connections to Physics textbook, which is recommended by PNLD 2018, deals with the development of physics skills. We verified that the textbook activities do not potentiate the development of certain skills and abilities required by BNCC. To fill this gap, we elaborated and applied a complementary physics teaching material which consisted of a directed study with activities about solar heaters, and it was structured in three objective stages (syncresis, analysis, and synthesis). The supporting material was applied at a public level high school in Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, and it was possible to observe the required skills and abilities in almost 80% of the students. We considered that this kind of activity could help teachers in their planning tasks and help students in their incorporation of physics learning abilities.
