Abstract

This test contextualizes the history of children care institutions in brazilian society, in order to understand the path to be called Child Education institutions. Search the understanding supporting character proclaimed to this institutions and wich extent this trend was surpassed and replaced by a pedagogical tendency. So, makes some brief considerations about the appearance of the school institution; addresses some brazilian history aspects that allow clarify the emergence of the Child Education institution is derived from supporting initiatives and concludes that only in the end of the 20th century, in Brazil, is that the childhood education institutions are recognized and legalized as an educational institutions, composing the first stage of Basic Education, action that had a strong influence from Social Movements, between them the Daycare Struggle Movement
