HISTORY AND AFRO-BRAZILIAN CULTURE IN THE CURRICULUM OF HISTORY FOR 6TH TO 9TH GRADE EDUCATION NETWORK OFFICIAL STATE OF SÃO PAULO

Abstract
The thematic inclusion of history and african-brazilian culture in the school curriculum is given to expand, in an ethical manner, the discussion of brazilian cultural, racial, social and economic views to end prejudice. The black population in Brazil, from the historical point of view, has always been placed on the margins of society. The process of implementation of Law 10639/2003, and other laws, make mandatory the teaching of african-brazilian and african history and culture, as contents to be inserted in all disciplines of the school curriculum, as well as discussions related to education of ethnic interracial relations. This study aims to examine how the african-brazilian history In Curriculum of History on the São Paulo State (6th to 9th grade), implemented from 2008. The research methodology was configured as qualitative research focusing on documentary analysis of the Curriculum for History of the São Paulo State. After reading and rereading teachers and students books, they were listed on categories of analysis: intention to deal with african-brazilian history and culture; the contentrelated approach to history and african-brazilian culture to propose activities; assessment and recovery of learning; visual language (photos, pictures, charts, illustrations).The analysis revealed a small contribution in compliance with current legislation, particularly the Law 10639/2003 and the National Curriculum Guidelines for Race Relations and Education for the teaching of african-brazilian and african history and culture in order to combat racial prejudice, valuing the cultural diversity, the respect and the contribution of african-brazilian culture in Brazil's historyDownloads
