Abstract

This paper aims at discussing the relations between the rentiers determinations in education, specifically with regard to the formation of future basic education teachers. It asks itself: how the principles that move higher education, governed by rentiers determinations, contribute for a strict formation, distant from actions for students’ emancipation? The concept of formation from Meszaros, Tonet and Duarte is discussed for clarifying the meaning and its possibilities in the society we live in, highlighting the rentiers determinations at private and public higher education institutions, and the consequences for the teachers formation. These aspects correspond to the quantitative and qualitative data obtained from a research entitled The problem of knowledge in the basic education teachers formation. A study aboutLicentiateship in São Paulo, developed in Licentiateship courses offered by public and private higher education institutions. In summary, the obtained information allows to assert that the rentiers determinations express another meaning in the teachers formation and in meaning of teachers’ work.
