Abstract

This article analyzes a webpage of Nova’s magazine entitled Erogenous zone map to discuss the representations of sexualities in the material and cultural pedagogies presented in the texts and images provided by the publication as possibilities for an attentive teacher´s education towards gender and sexual identities. This media material is conjectured as a cultural artifact that displays the bodies of a man and a woman pointing out to each gender’s erogenous zones. Based upon the feminist and Foucault's theories anchored in Cultural Studies and using the material provided by the magazine to discuss the naturalization and fixation of desire and sexualities biologically tied to bodies, it is questioned the teacher’s education as a neutral and content-centric training. Attentive to the perspectives of the affections and desires, it is proposed the inclusion of discourses about sexualities in teacher’s education to unsettle notions of science and truth. In that sense, subjective issues are added as relevant perspectives to teacher’s education. It is considered that the comprehension of bodies and sexualities as inscriptions that alter the subjectivities contribute to think about ways of being and acting in the world and in teacher’s education to inquire, encourage, discuss and problematize sexual and gender possibilities in different social spaces.
