<b>The "sport" in the formation of "Normal Physical Education Teachers" in Argentina (1912-1940)
Abstract
In Argentina, since the twentieth century, we find different educational pathways for teacher training linked with civilian and military physical training. The National Institute of Physical Education, in 1912, was the first civil institution established a course of " normal physical education teachers ".The first two decades was directed by Dr. Enrique Romero Brest, who seeked to prepare teachers for the race transmission called "Argentine System of Physical Education ". This centralized offer at the gym "Graduate and methodized”, was the subject of a lot of multiple evaluations by those who proposed the addition of "sport" and expanding the field of professional action. They were reflected into objections about the profile of graduates and the plan course, which was changed dramatically during 1939-1940. That's why, this study develops the tensions and disputes over the inclusion of "sport" in the "normal physical education teachers” training from the analysis of the different study plans implemented between 1912-1940. Returning to the proposal dossier seeks to show the relevance of probing into the meanings of cultural practices for analysis and transformation of the present.
