<b>FULL PROTECTION AND/OR WHOLE EDUCATION? CONCEPTIONS FOR THE EXTENSION OF THE SCHOOL DAY IN EDUCATIONAL POLICIES

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the concepts of Whole Education and Full-Time Education identified in federal documents from 2001 to 2014.  Given the urgency of this issue, currently increased by the approval of the new National Education Plan which targets full time education offerings in 50% of the schools, we consider important the reflection over the subject as it involves different policies, actions and interests. Thus, methodologically we used the bibliographical and documentary research; and we've searched official documents for which were the main actions developed in the last decade that have strengthened the theme and then, after a thorough analysis of those documents, we've identified which were the main present concepts. Finally, we've highlighted the concepts that we think are the most evident and analyzed them based on the theoretical contributions made by important authors whose works are dedicated to the educational policy and the full time whole education subjects. As a result, the article indicates that there are different concepts that are in dispute on the governmental policies programs. Thus, inspired by the approach to the idea of full protection, new formulations have been proposed for the discussions about whole education.
