SUPERIOR EDUCATION REFORM FROM THE 1990S AND ITS IMPACT ON THE CENTER-WEST REGION

Abstract
This article analyzes the expansion of the superior education in the Center-West, from the 1990s, prominently in the evening period, based on the reform of the superior education in the government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso (1995-2002) and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (2003-2007). The primary objective is to examine to what extent superior education offered on the night shift, if it helps to democratize the access to this level of education or, in other words, works for the access and permanence into these courses with students from disadvantaged sections of society. To this end, we present the basic characteristics and challenges of higher education in the current context, based on some indicators of socioeconomic and educational Center-West region, to highlight the evening access to education and the prospects for democratization into this regionDownloads
